La Récré was born out of a simple desire: to offer schools, daycare centers, and early childhood education centers a school photography experience that is more personal, more natural, and more enjoyable for both the children and the institutions.
Behind every photo shoot, there is a team of professional women who take the time to see the children for who they truly are: curious, cheerful, sometimes a little shy… but always unique.
Why the name
La Récré
Because recess is often when children are most themselves. They laugh, they run around, they make funny faces, and they live in the moment. That’s exactly the spirit we want to capture in our photos: spontaneous, lively, and authentic images that capture the little moments that make childhood so beautiful. Memories that will bring a smile to families’ faces for years to come.
Our story
La Récré is, above all, a story of a passion for photography… and for childhood.
The founding photographers wanted to offer an alternative to traditional school photo sessions. A simpler, more lively approach—and above all, one that better respects the children’s natural rhythm.
Here, there are no green screens, no rushed sessions, and no artificial staging.
We prioritize natural light, a calm environment, and the time needed for each child to be themselves in front of the camera.
Because the most beautiful portraits don’t come from a forced smile, but from a genuine moment.
Our Philosophy
Photographing children is first and foremost about creating an atmosphere where they feel comfortable. A child who feels at ease has a sparkle in their eyes, a spontaneous smile, an unexpected little grimace—and often, the perfect photo.

Photographing groups of children requires much more than just strong technical skills: you need to be able to observe, adapt quickly, and connect with them in an instant. It is this ability to handle the situation on the ground that allows you to capture natural and authentic images, even in a fast-paced setting.

She leads and supports a passionate team, driven by a desire to offer a seamless, personal, and caring experience. She often says, “Just one more photo”… because the most beautiful moments rarely happen on the first try.

Carine is a photographer and partner at La Récré en Estrie. As a mother of three boys, her personal journey has profoundly changed her perspective, helping her appreciate the value of simple, precious moments. She photographs from the heart, because every moment matters.

As a partner photographer for La Récré in the Montérégie region, she stands out for her infectious energy and her knack for putting people at ease, young and old alike. Her approach is simple, warm, and full of joy. As a mom of two athletic preteens, she knows all too well what that joyful whirlwind is like… and loves capturing all its spontaneity.

Émilie, co-owner of La Récré, is a passionate manager who combines organizational skills, attentiveness, and energy in her daily work. She turns the team’s creative ideas into concrete projects, always with a sense of structure and fluidity. As the mother of a preteen, she quickly understands young people… even those who are “lazy.”
