The Day I Saw *La Récré* on *The Bear*

It might sound strange to say.
But for a few seconds, while watching *The Bear*, I didn’t see a kitchen crew anymore.

I saw our team.
I saw La Récré.

For those who aren’t familiar with the series, *The Bear* tells the story of a team trying to keep an exceptional restaurant afloat. It’s about cooking, of course, but above all, it’s about pressure, leadership, trust, and what brings a team together when everything seems to be going wrong.

In the penultimate episode of the most recent season, one scene really stuck with me. Amid the chaos, the whole team puts on their Original Beef jerseys. In an instant, something changes. It’s no longer about the roles taking center stage. It’s no longer about appearances. It’s simply a team moving forward together.

And that’s when it clicked for me.

I immediately thought of our school
photographyseason.

A school photography season is a marathon. For several weeks, the days start before sunrise and often end just before bedtime. There are the miles to travel, the changing schedules, the weather that sometimes dictates our day, the thousands of children we photograph, the orders to prepare, the retouched photos to deliver, the parents’ questions, the unexpected events… and everything else.

Sometimes, it’s intense.

But I’ve come to realize that it’s not this reality that defines La Récré.

What defines us is how we navigate it.

Our team includes photographers, assistants, retouchers, support staff, and partners—passionate women who, each in their own way, help provide an exceptional experience for schools and families.

No season would be possible without each and every one of them.

When a day is tough, someone calls to check in. When something unexpected comes up, we find a solution together. When a colleague needs a helping hand, there’s always someone there to step up.

It’s this solidarity that keeps us moving forward.

Yes, we create memories that will last a lifetime in family photo albums.

But behind every portrait, there’s also a team that looks out for one another.

Watching this scene from *The Bear*, I realized that the Original Beef sweaters weren’t just a uniform.

They represented a sense of belonging.

The knowledge that, no matter what challenge lies ahead, we’ll never face it alone.

Our new fall 2026 jerseys reminded me of exactly that idea.

They don’t just represent La Récré.

They represent all the women who bring it to life, season after season.

When I look at photos of our team together, I don’t just see a logo. I see mornings that start before sunrise, bursts of laughter, coffees gulped down in a hurry, and messages sent to encourage one another. Solutions we’ve found together. Hundreds of small gestures that often go unnoticed, but that make all the difference. I see a team of passionate women that’s growing without losing what has always made it unique.

At the end of the day, it’s not the jersey that makes a team.

It’s the team that gives meaning to the jersey.

If you haven't seen *The Bear* yet, I highly recommend it. All five seasons are available on Disney+.

Enjoy the show!
